I Shane: Ready for the music biz

UP-AND-COMING singjay I Shane won new fans at LIME Full Black concert in New Kingston, St Andrew, on Saturday night. The deejay had the audience hanging on to every word as he dropped lyrics to Trucka and his pre-released single Reason Fi War.
The 26-year-old honed his stage craft came from appearing on the 2011 Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall competition.
"Being placed fourth in the competition gave me a lot of exposure and I gained a fan base. It taught me how to take control of the stage and control my audience," he said.
I Shane said after Magnum Kings and Queens, he was faced with the challenges of getting a good producer to record with. As a result, he began promoting his pre-released songs digitally.
"I didn't get a chance to release my debut single Comfortable Home until February of this year," he said.
Comfortable Home was produced by Stephen Henry.
Earlier this year, I Shane said he uploaded the single Trucka to YouTube. It caught the attention of the local Insight Records, which officially produced the song.
"Since the release last month, it has been going on well. It's a song about a group of friends and we called ourselves Trucka. It's about our lifestyle, and so on. It's really catchy," he said.
The entertainer is currently working on several tracks for Insight.
I Shane, whose given name is Roshane Lewis, grew up in Spanish Town.
