Best In The Caribbean - Ardenne Outshines Region In CAPE

Ardenne High School in Kingston is brimming with pride as the institution has been named the top-performing secondary school in this year's Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Exams (CAPE) across the region.
In addition to this, Ardenne High graduate Dea Thomas copped the prize for being the top CAPE student in the regional exams.
When The Gleaner contacted Thomas yesterday, she could not contain her elation over her illustrious feat.
"I am extremely ecstatic!" she proclaimed, adding that she was shocked when she saw the letter informing her of the accomplishment.
Thomas managed to gain grade ones in pure mathematics, applied mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, Caribbean studies, and communication studies.
"I really loved the subjects I did, so studying wasn't really a problem, because I loved what I was doing," the 17-year-old said.
Thomas said she has decided to take a year off to relax before she takes on the rigors of medical school next year. The India-born, naturalised Jamaican prodigy said she wants to become a medical researcher.
Meanwhile, Ardenne's principal, Nadine Molloy, said she was beside herself with joy.
"It certainly validates the work that we and the parents have been doing here and the effort our students are putting into their work," Molloy said.
