Fisherman survives terrifying close encounter with lightning strike

This is why you should never be out on the water during a thunderstorm if you can avoid it. Paul Ragsdale uploaded this video to YouTube of professional angler Tucker Owings' close encounter with lightning. According to Owings' Facebook page, he was fishing on Lake Athens in Texas on Saturday when lightning struck directly in front of his boat. The video is only six seconds long, but that's enough to demonstrate how scary nature can be. You can actually see the shape of the bolt as it hits the water. We're guessing that's as clear a sign as you can get that it's time to go home.
