Miley Cyrus scores Official Charts Number 1 double!

Miley Cyrus has become the first artist this year to land the Official Charts Number 1 double! "I truly appreciate the love I'm getting from the UK," she says.

Miley Cyrus will no doubt be celebrating this evening after topping both the UK’s Official Singles Chart and Official Albums Chart, simultaneously!
The 20-year-old singer and actress fought off tough competition from the likes of Eminem’s Berzerk (Number 2) andlast week’s Number 1, Counting Stars by One Republic (3), to debut in pole position on the Official Singles Chart with her latest track, Wrecking Ball.
Meanwhile, on the Official Albums ChartMiley’s fourth solo full-length, Bangerz, also debuts at Number 1, making her the first artist to score an Official Charts Number 1 double this year. (The last act to achieve such a feat was Olly Murs, with Troublemaker FT Flo Rida taken from his chart topping album Right Place, Right Time, last December).
"I truly appreciate the love I'm getting from the UK," Miley tells OfficialCharts.com. "Not only is this my second Number 1 single, but even more amazing is my album has also gone in at Number 1! I can't wait to be back in the UK next month."
Despite starring in Disney’s hugely popular Hannah Montana TV show between 2006 and 2011, and releasing music as both herself and her on-screen character, surprisingly, Miley only scored her first ever UK Number 1 single little over two months ago with We Can’t Stop. Her previous highest charting album was 2010’s Can’t Be Tamed, which peaked at Number 8.
