Mr. Ugly pageant winner says it all comes naturally to him
He's not the New York Yankees of the un-handsome yet, but William Masvinhu does have a dynasty budding. For the second straight year, the Zimbabwe man has won the crown of Mr. Ugly Harare in an event at the City Sports Bar in the nation's capital. But there was nothing unsightly about the prize haul. Masvinhu won $1,700, plus a year's school tuition for one of his children, while all participants were awarded overalls, safety shoes and raincoats because, well, ugly doesn't pay the bills. But the beauty of this pageant is in the preparation. No diets, no salon treatments, no memorizing "I just want to help people" speeches. "My ugliness comes naturally to me," Masvinhu told allafrica.com. His manager, Michael Gundo, added, "A bit of choreography together with his funny clothing helped him on stage but it was all minimum effort."
