PM to inducted in IWF Hall of Fame

PRIME Minister Portia Simpson Miller is to be inducted into the International Women's Forum (IWF) Hall of Fame. The induction will take place tonight at the IWF Leadership Conference in Vancouver, Canada.
The IWF, which was founded in the United States 30 years ago, said that the award is in recognition of the "incredible impact that women of courage, creativity and passion have made towards improving society, inspiring others and building better leadership in the world".

Simpson Miller will be the second head of government in the Caribbean to be inducted following the late Dominica prime minister, Dame Eugenia Charles.
Other leaders who have received the award include former British prime minister Margaret Thatcher, Kim Campbell of Canada, Mary Robinson of Ireland, Nancy Pelosi, the first female Speaker of the US House of Representatives, as well as Civil Rights activist Rosa Parks, and the president of the All China Women's Federation, Chen Zhili.
Simpson Miller, who departed for Canada yesterday, is accompanied by Minna Israel, president of the IWF's Jamaica Chapter, and past president Pat Ramsay.
