DJ Fuse won the first 2K5 Heineken Green Synergy contest semi-final

DJ Fuse won the first 2K5 Heineken Green Synergy contest semi-final , beating Fire Chief at the Asylum Nightclub.
Fire Chief won the toss and chose to be first up, but had only two CDs from which to select. Unfortunately, the mixer could not read one of the CDs and he was unable to complete his first round. Even though he made a huge come back in the second round and 'tune-for-tune' segment, his earlier mishap could not be overlooked.
"I have learnt a valuable lesson: You can't put all your eggs in one basket," said the 25-year-old Fire Chief. Born André Bryan, he has been selecting for a while but got serious only last year. A graduate of St. Thomas High, he now operates a demo studio and records dub plates and remixes. He plans to upgrade his studio facilities so he will be become a first-rate music producer.
DJ Fuse kept his cool while pushing the limit with his selections.
CONFIDENT
He said his strategy was to be confident, please the judges and get a good crowd response. "The Asylum crowd is harder to please than the radio audience, because they are hardcore," he said. The 21-year-old had entered Heineken Green Synergy twice before, but did not make it to the first round. He credits preparation and practice with his current success. Born Robert Vassell, the graduate of Wolmers Boys' School and Harbour View resident plans on becoming a music producer.
The second semi-final was  with Negril's DJ Slim and Monetgo Bay's DJ Bull going head to head .
The winner from that round will meet DJ Fuse in the finals on Friday, September 2. The winner of the 2K5 Heineken Green Synergy competition will represent Jamaica in the regional finals in St. Lucia later in September.
