Point Noted ... NWA On Tessanne's “We Have The Worst Roads” Remark

Following a declaration by Jamaican songbird Tessanne Chin about the poor state of Jamaica’s roads, deputy Chief Executive Officer at the National Works Agency Earl Patterson says the government is making efforts to address the matter. 

In selecting a vehicle from Kia Motors in song competition 'The Voice', Tessanne, who was later declared the winner, stated that Jamaica has the “worst roads”. 

Speaking during the post-Cabinet press briefing this morning, Patterson admitted that the country’s road network is in need of a lot of attention. 

He said the Ministry of Transport and Works, through the Tourism Enhancement Fund and the Road Fund is making an effort to attend to critical areas, even amid budgetary constraints. 

Patterson pointed out that $200 million from the recently announced $500 million road project will be used to facilitate repairs to about 75,000 square metres of roadway. 

Patterson says beautification activities are also included under that project to coincide with the Christmas season and the beginning of the Winter Tourist Season.
