Quick, cold front brings rain, chance of snow over weekend

A fast moving storm is sweeping across the Southland Saturday, bringing up to a quarter inch of rain in some areas and snow in the local mountains.
According to ABC7 Meteorologist Bri Winkler, the coasts and valleys may get up to 1/4 to 1/3 inch of rain, and about 1/2 to 1 inch of rain in the mountains below 3,000 feet.
The rain wasted no time Saturday, falling early in the morning over parts of Ventura County.
The rainmaking system is expected to pass through quickly, moving down to Malibu and then eventually spreading over Orange County by late morning. By late afternoon, the rain is expected to push into the Inland Empire, clearing for the most part over Ventura County. By the evening hours, the system is expected to have cleared out of the Southland.
Expect highs in the mid-50s in Los Angeles and Orange counties through the weekend. By Sunday, the clouds will start to clear out and we'll see temperatures going back up to the upper-50s and low-60s next week.
The Inland Empire and Valleys will see nighttime temps in the 30s through next Tuesday, with daytime highs reaching the 50s.
In the local mountains, about 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected between 3,500 feet and 4,500 feet, and up to a foot of snow may fall above 7,000 feet. Parts of the Antelope Valley could also get a light dusting of snow at 3,000 feet .
Mountain temperatures are expected to rise to the 40s by next week. The High Desert communities will see temps in the mid-40s through the weekend.
A winter storm warning is in place for the San Bernardino Mountains, set to expire Saturday night. Also, a winter weather advisory is in effect through Sunday morning for the Ventura County Mountains and the Los Angeles County Mountains, excluding the Santa Monica Range.
The Los Angeles County Health Department has issued a cold weather alert for the Santa Clarita, San Fernando and Antelope valleys and the Mount Wilson area, as sub-freezing temperatures are possible through the weekend.
Officials are also reminding residents not to use stoves, barbeques or ovens to heat their homes due to carbon-monoxide poisoning dangers.
