Near-blizzard conditions, 9 inches of snow expected in NYC

Can we have 2013 back?

A massive snowstorm is set to sock the city on the second day of the new year.

Up to 9 inches of snow and near-blizzard conditions are forecast for Thursday afternoon through Friday morning,

with winds gusting up to 40 mph and single-digit temperatures.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for the city, its northern suburbs and Long Island.

“We are looking at a very serious storm situation,” said Gov. Cuomo. He warned of Thursday rush-hour road

closings across Long Island and Westchester County and said Long Island could face blizzard conditions.

Rob Carolan, owner of Hometown Forecast Services Inc. gave a similar prediction.
