Dada Son Entertainment recording artiste, Jemere Morgan, is now in Jamaica promoting his latest single, Neighbourhood Girl.
The single is reminiscent of John Holt's 1982 single Sweetie Come Brush Me, and perfectly showcases Jemere's smooth melodic voice. Released last year, the song peaked at No. 2 on the reggae charts in Sweden, and hit the top ten of South Florida's reggae charts.
"That was a great look and since then, the single has been getting some buzz. Four stations in Hawaii are now playing the single, the video played on MTV in the United States and the video will be getting some spins on local stations here," he said.
He will be releasing his debut EP, @IAMJEMERE, this summer, with several singles recorded with A-Team Music producer, Stanley 'Rellee' Hayden. The album will be released on the Dada Son Entertainment/ Team label. He is crafting a sound which is a sweet fusion of pop, R&B and reggae.
"I write my own music, and I engineer and record my own music, so I am learning all the time. This album will have an island-pop flavour," the savvy 18 year-old said.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Jemere Morgan is not pressured by the fact that he is a member of one of reggae's most influential musical familes, with his father being Gramps Morgan and grandfather, Denroy Morgan. In 2011, he got the opportunity of a lifetime when he opened for Morgan Heritage on their European tour.
"I have learned a lot of things opening up for Morgan Heritage on the road; it's been a great experience just being on the international stage," he said.
