Katy Perry has helped deliver a baby.
The 29-year-old singer has spoken of her desire to have children in the past, although she is adamant she isn't ready for that level of responsibility at the moment.
It seems she is happy to be around little ones though, with the star getting more than she bargained for during a visit with a pregnant pal this week.
'Finally you can add "helps delivers babies in living rooms" to my resume! It's been a miracle of a day...?? Auntie Katy aka Stylist Auntie (sic),' she wrote on Twitter late on Wednesday night.
At the moment no further details of the birth are known.
It's been a big few weeks for Katy, both personally and professionally. As well as turning midwife she announced tour dates in Australia and New Zealand and walked the Moschino runway at Milan Fashion Week.
She is also rumoured to have split from her boyfriend John Mayer, shortly after widespread speculation they were engaged.
Although it's thought the break-up was amicable, Katy's Prismatic World Tour is rumoured to have been one of the biggest factors in the decision.
'She's stressed about the tour, they've been fighting. It is probably for the best, because she is going to be on tour for forever. Of course this happens all the time, I can't keep track anymore. But for now they are done,' an insider told Us Weekly.
If the series of shows have come between Katy and John, it wouldn't be the first time she's had the problem. Cracks began to show in her marriage to Russell Brand after he failed to visit her during her California Dreams Tour. He eventually told her he was divorcing her via text message in 2011, 14 months after they wed.
Although neither has given an express reason about their split, Katy has hinted they argued about starting a family.
"[He] really wanted me to have children, and I knew I wasn't ready," she previously told Marie Claire magazine.
"I think it was a way of control. I think it was part of, 'If I have a kid, then I would have to sacrifice - I'd have to be home more.' I really wanted to, but I knew I wasn't ready for it."
