3 Jamaicans win Juno

THREE Jamaicans won Juno Awards Saturday night in Winnipeg, Canada, where the annual ceremony took place.
Rapper/deejay Kardinal Offishall took home his third Juno for the song Can't Choose which features singer Jrdn. It won for R&B Soul Recording of the Year.
Kingston-born Matthew Samuels, known as producer Boi-1da, produced most of the tracks on Canadian rapper Drake's latest album Nothing Was the Same, which won for Rap Recording of the Year. Samuels also wrote three songs on the album, two of which were Billboard hits.
Manchester native Exco Levi (Wayne Levy) collected his third Juno for Reggae Recording of the Year with the Silly Walks Discotheque-produced single Strive, which also features singer Kabaka Pyramind.
The Toronto-based Levi won in 2012 for Bleaching Shop and in 2013 for Storms of Life. Other nominees for Reggae Recording of the Year were St Elizabeth native Akustix; Canadian group Dubmatix, and singer Ammoye.
The Junos, Canada's equivalent of the Grammy Awards, was first held in 1974. Winners are chosen by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
