A YOUNG woman who was scarred for life after a supposed friend threw acid over her face has said she is homeless and is having to live in a hostel while caring for her mother.
Naomi Oni, 22, suffered the horrific attack in December 2012 and her former friend Mary Konye was jailed this month for 12 years after being found guilty of throwing the acid.
Konye was disguised with Islamic dress when she carried out the attack in east London.
Oni said she is living in a hostel in the same room as her mother, whom she has to care for.
She told BBC London radio: “I'm tired of telling people how I feel then going back to a one-bed hostel with my Mum.
“I've never had privacy to just roll on the floor in my room and cry my heart out.
“I would just like to be in a secure home.”
Southwark councillor Ian Wingfield, a cabinet member for housing, said: “Southwark Council is assisting Ms Oni and her mother with their application for housing.
“We appreciate what a difficult time the family has been through and have been doing all we can to help.
“The council has made the family a direct offer of a home in Southwark, and we hope that this will provide them with an opportunity to move on from recent events.”
Oni recently claimed that the police did not take her seriously after she was attacked and accused the force of believing she had thrown the acid over herself.
