Avicii was forced to cancel a concert in Miami on Thursday night after he was hospitalized for unknown reasons. While we have been unable to confirm a TMZ report that the "Wake Me Up" star is no longer in the hospital, his rep tells Billboard that he is "doing better" and "going to be fine." More information will be released later this morning.
The Swedish DJ, born Tim Bergling, was scheduled to play a show at SLS South Beach in Miami Beach, but shortly before he was supposed to perform, Australian duo Cazzette informed the crowd that he would not be playing, citing his trip to the hospital.
"At the hospital," Avicii said in a since-deleted message on Twitter. "Extremely bummed about missing my show at the Avicii Hotel. My brother @Alesso is stepping up and covering for me."
The show was to be the second of a five-night set at the Miami hotel, which Avicii confirmed last month as the newest iteration of his Avicii Hotel series.
TMZ was first to report the DJ's hospitalization. He is also scheduled to headline Miami's Ultra Music Festival, which kicks off tonight (March 28).
Also on Thursday night, Dutch producer-DJ Afrojack announced on Twitter that he was visiting a hospital to "prevent an early end to this weekend." He later added, "Im ok, dehydrated and overworked, guess i got a little too excited."
