The possible life sentence of friend and fellow artiste, Vybz Kartel, has not ended Busta Rhymes' association with Jamaica and dancehall music.Dancehall artiste Spice has had one of her dreams come to reality as the artiste has teamed up with Rhymes, who she describes as one of the best rappers of all time.
The two have joined forces on the remix of Spice's A So Me Like It. The duo met through Spice's manager when Busta Rhymes arrived in the island in support of Vybz Kartel, who at the time was awaiting his verdict.
"My manager and Busta are long-time friends, so I met him when he came to Jamaica for the trial, and to me, he is one of the baddest hip-hop rappers, lyrically. He has always lived his roots, he has Jamaican heritage, so when he heard the song, he loved it and decided to jump on it. I wanted to take the song to an international level, and he's the best person to help me get it there," Spice told The STAR.
Though the single was released on the weekend, Spice is already seeing a bump, saying it has gone into rotation on several local radio stations.
"People have been blown away. Busta went in on this track. He also put in some of the popular dance moves into the song such as Mosquito Net and One Drop. At one point we even switched roles, with me rapping and Busta deejaying in Patois. Trust me, it's a great blend of dancehall and hip hop.
"People are really loving this new track. He said he is one of my bigger fans and that he is blown away by my talent. Hopefully, we can do more work together," she said.
The Jim Screechie artiste went on to say that she is expecting the song to be a big hit internationally, especially in overseas clubs.
Both artistes are now developing a plan strategy as it relates to a video for the song. Spice is also gearing up for tours in the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States.
"A So Mi Like It is really doing well. It's been climbing the local charts and people are loving it, so I'm really expecting the same, plus more from the remix with Busta Rhymes."
