DJ Shot During Rick Ross, Diddy Party

Police shot a DJ in the leg during an album release party hosted by Rick Ross and Diddy late Sunday (March 2), reports the Atlanta  Journal Constitution
Two off-duty, uniformed officers were returning fire outside the Velvet Room when they hit the shooter, who was later identified as the club DJ. The incident occurred around 4 a.m., when one of the two cops heard gunshots come from the back of the venue.
According to Dekalb County Public Safety Director Cedric Alexander, the suspect, whose name has not been released, turned towards the police and "started firing shots." The officers fired off rounds of their own, hitting the suspect in the leg. The DJ's motive has not been identified. "For whatever unknown reasons, it appears that this DJ, who was involved in the shooting with some others, turned and shot at the officers, and that’s when they returned fire,” said Alexander.
The wounded DJ made his way back inside the club and was arrested before he was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Rozay and Diddy were on hand to celebrate the debut of Mastermind, the Miami rapper's sixth studio album, which is executive produced by the Bad Boy mogul. Neither were involved in the violence, Alexander said. The two shooting officers have been placed on a standard administrative leave while the incident is being investigated. “They took all the necessary actions to protect themselves and each other,” added Alexander.
The shooting was the second outbreak of violence to follow a Diddy appearance this weekend. Before he stopped off in ATL, the 44-year-old was in North Carolina to celebrate the annual Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) basketball tournament. Two men were shot in the leg at a party he hosted inside the Sheraton Hotel Saturday (March 1). One suspect was arrested in the incident.
