Janitor allegedly kills wife, kidnaps 8-year-old girl

An arrest warrant was issued Friday for a Maryland man suspected of murdering his wife and kidnapping an 8-year-old girl.
Kahlil Tatum, 51, the prime suspect in the disappearance of Relisha Rudd, worked as a janitor at a homeless Shelter in Washington D.C. where the missing child lived with her mother.
The 8-year-old girl was last seen on February 26. However, police were not made aware of her disappearance until Wednesday when a counselor at Payne Elementary School noticed she hadn't been to class in weeks, HLN affiliate WJLA reported.

Early Thursday, while checking a Maryland motel as part of the search for the missing child, police discovered the body of Tatum’s wife, 51-year-old Andrea Denise Tatum. She was pronounced dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound.
A multi-state Amber Alert, which remains active, was issued for Rudd Thursday afternoon.
Anthony Wheeler, Rudd’s mother’s fiancĂ©, said the child’s mother had given Tatum permission to spend time with the girl while she was at the hospital, but he never returned the girl, WJLA reported.
The station reported the child’s grandmother says the child often stayed overnight with Tatum and his family when her mother was out of town.
Rudd is described as a black female with a medium complexion. She is 4 feet tall and weighs between 70 and 80 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes.
Kahlil Tatum is a black male. He is 5’7” tall and weighs 165 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.
Authorities warn the public Tatum could be armed and dangerous.
