Justin Timberlake has made more money than Beyoncé on tour

Justin Timberlake’s 20/20 Experience tops the weekly list of Hot Tours based on $23.6 million in ticket sales from the final 14 performances of the tour’s opening leg. The four-month trek covered North American markets from Nov. 6 through March 5, wrapping in Miami. Venues in Chicago, New York City and Toronto hosted the pop star for two-show stints during the final month of the opening run. All three of the venues reported more than $3 million in revenue, but Chicago’s United Center had the highest gross with $3.7 million from concerts on Feb. 16 and 17.

From the opening show at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center through the North American leg’s final stop at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, the tour’s ticket sales surpassed $70.7 million. Timberlake performed 44 concerts during the initial jaunt through 38 cities. Next on the schedule is a 19-city stretch through 11 European countries kicking off on March 30 in England. Concerts are booked in Asia and Africa during May, and a second jaunt through the U.S. and Canada will begin in July. More European dates and a run through Australia and New Zealand are on tap later this year.

Beyoncé scores the second slot on Hot Tours with $5.5 million in ticket sales from a four-show engagement in Dublin, one of the last stops on the Mrs. Carter Show world tour that is set to wrap on March 27. The O2, Dublin’s 14,500-seat arena, hosted the tour on March 8-9 and 11-12 with 51,100 tickets sold for all performances. This marked the R&B star’s second engagement at the venue since launching the tour in April of last year. She played two shows at the O2 last May during the first European leg. Combined attendance for all six sold out concerts at the arena was 76,636, almost a thousand seats more than when she played six concerts at the same arena during 2009’s I Am… world tour.

Arenas in two Australian cities, Perth and Brisbane, reported box office stats from some of their recent concerts, securing a top 10 ranking for four acts. The Perth Arena and the Brisbane Entertainment Centre both hosted tours by Bruno Mars and a co-headlining effort with Queens of the Stone Age and Nine Inch Nails. Mars earns the No. 3 ranking with $3 million in grosses from both venues. A sold out date in Perth on Feb. 28 and a March 13 concert in Brisbane drew a total of 26,340 fans to see the Grammy-winning pop star. The QOTSA/NIN nine-city trek through Australia and New Zealand stopped in Perth on March 11 and Brisbane six days later. Combined sales from both markets totaling $1.6 million give the rock bands a share of the No. 6 Hot Tours ranking.

Veteran performers Lionel Richie and John Farnham joined forces for a six-city swing through Australia during March. They earn the No. 4 ranking based on $2.1 million in revenue from two nights at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. 15,922 tickets were sold for both shows on March 10 and 11. Another industry icon, Dolly Parton, takes the No. 8 ranking with sales reported by the Perth Arena. The country star played the 15,000-seat arena on Feb. 27 to close out her Blue Smoke tour’s Oceania trek
