Lil Za has received a break in his property damage case.

The 20-year-old rapper, real name Xavier Domonique Smith, was arrested on January 14 after police raided Justin's Calabasas, California home during a felony vandalism investigation and found drugs on the premises.

CBSLA reports Smith was charged with felony property damage after he allegedly broke a jail phone following his arrest.

But according to the outlet, the charge was reduced on Wednesday to a misdemeanour.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies reportedly found Smith with ecstasy when they raided Justin's residence, which the pop star has since sold.

It's unclear when Smith will answer to drug possession charges.

Investigators were looking for evidence following allegations Justin had egged his neighbour's house on January 9, causing an estimated $20,000 in damage.

CBS reports Smith is scheduled to be arraigned on April 30.

Justin is meanwhile believed to be standing by his pal, who he reportedly refused to evict from his former Calabasas home during the investigation.

The pop star is meanwhile facing legal troubles of his own.

Reports last week suggested he could still face a felony vandalism charge over the alleged egging incident.

TMZ claimed the singer's attorney, Howard Weitzman, is negotiating a plea deal with the LA County District Attorney.

In a separate case, Justin is facing charges of driving under the influence, resisting arrest and driving without a licence stemming from his January 23 arrest in Miami, Florida.

The singer is also facing an assault charge in Toronto stemming from an alleged incident in December 2013 in which Justin is accused of striking a limousine driver on the back of the head multiple times en route to a nightclub.

A lawsuit claiming Justin assaulted his former bodyguard in 2012 was dropped last month, according to the Toronto Star.
