L'Wren Scott's sister has praised Mick Jagger for his support following the designer's death.

The American fashion icon took her own life at her New York home on March 17 and was laid to rest in a Hollywood, California cemetery on Tuesday. She was 49.

UK newspaper The Mirror reports L'Wren's sister, Jan Shane, was excluded from her sibling's funeral.

However, Jan has now publicly thanked Mick, L'Wren's partner of more than 13 years, for sharing her ashes, which she hopes to bury next to their parents near the family home in Ogden, Utah.

'I want to thank, from the bottom of my heart, Mick's kind gesture. He was a huge part of her life and had a big hand in organising the funeral so it was thoughtful to make sure a part of her returned to her roots,' she told the outlet.

"It's pleasing to know her ashes will be buried next to mum and dad because L'Wren was so close to them.'

Jan told The Mirror she was not invited to the funeral, planned by her brother, Randall Bamborough, and Rolling Stones rocker Mick.

The 53-year-old said the family has since made up. However, she's unsure what will be done with the remainder of L'Wren's ashes.

'It's good to know I will be able to visit her grave. L'Wren and I never had any problems and it saddened me that I couldn't pay my final respects. Now, I will be able to in Utah,' Jan said.

Recent reports suggested L'Wren left her entire $9 million estate to Mick.

Documents released to CNN by the Manhattan Surrogate's Court on Thursday read: 'I give all my jewelry, clothing, household furniture and furnishings, personal automobiles, and other tangible articles of a personal nature...to Michael Philip Jagger.'

The late designer's estate reportedly included a $1 million New York condo and $8 million in 'tangible personal property and various other assets'.
