Scammers target the Livity name

While the police try to clamp down on lottery scamming, Leighton 'Livity' Coke, CEO of Liv Up Records has now found himself a victim.

According to producer at Liv Up Records, Clinton 'Crumbs' Marsh, unscrupulous persons have been using Coke's name to scam persons in the music industry out of their money.

"The scamming thing is back and dem a go hard. We did all of the necessary reports and documentation but it is still happening and occurring more than before. Dem a target people in the music, like artistes and producers," Crumbs told The STAR.

"Dem link dem saying this is Liv Up and him in a situation and wants to borrow some money and they will get it back with interest... even phone cards they ask for."

Some of the persons who have been contacted, he said, are Agent Saco, Wayne Marshall, KipRich, Baby G,

I-Octane, Spragga Benz and Christopher Martin.

"Is three quarter of the business dem link to be honest," Marsh said.

He continued, "Based on the respect that people have for Liv Up people always willing to assist ... people been getting scammed, people a run money man ... even my name people a use. It a get out of hand. We report it to the police but all now we can't get a result."

Marsh explained that the scam has been taking place from as far back as 2012. He says he wants it to stop and is urging persons not to give money to Liv Up's impersonators.

"I just want them to be aware that Liv Up is not going to call them. When we do music business, we always meet face-to-face, so the phone thing not going to work. Anybody get a call just hang up the phone or if dem try scam you report it to the police," Marsh told The STAR.

On the musical side, Marsh says Liv Up Records' recent 'Zion Train' rhythm is doing well.

"Every song is doing well and we are getting good response from VP Records, as well as iTunes. A lot of European DJs a feel it and it's doing good in Africa," he said, noting that the rhythm features Alborosie, Jah Cure, Tarrus Riley, Zagga and Liv Up Records recording artiste Tony Frass.

In Addition, he said Tony Frass' EP, Joyful Noise, has also been getting good reviews.
