A chunk of Shakira‘s “Dare (La La La)” was featured in a recent Activia commercial, but now the entire almost-lead-single from herself-titled album has hit the Web. And it is massive. The whole EDM pop thing is not as in-demand as it has been in recent years, but I have to say, Afrojack‘s neon club production in this song is on point, proving we should leave this trend to the experts.
In addition to the laser pop arrangement, Shak sounds as sultry as ever (“Is it true that you love me? / I dare you to kiss me”) and it’s got an eminently singable refrain. The real stunner, though, is the bridge, as thunderous percussion and a chorus of la-la-las make it feel like the whole world dropped what it was doing to join the party.
The only question is, since it’s the opening track on the LP, how will the rest of the material follow this adrenaline rush?
