Jessie J doesn't believe success should be handed out 'on a golden platter

The It's My Party singer is currently in the process of recording her third album. The 26-year-old has been posting a number of short snippets of herself in the studio to keep her fans updated on the creative process.

'I wanted to show you what I am like before the polished videos and mixes and masters,' she wrote at the start of a lengthy blog post accompanying them. 'This is the bit most of the time you don't get to see of me, even though this is where I work the hardest before promo and release.'

The Price Tag singer quit her role as a coach on the UK version of The Voice last year after two series to focus on her music. In her blog, Jessie, real name Jessica Ellen Cornish, opened up about how hard she works to be the best artist she can be.

'I love making music and not a day goes by that I don't think about how thankful I am to my heartbeats/fans for this opportunity. Nothing is ever promised. I have to work hard for this, nothing should be handed on a golden platter. And you can't get comfortable, ever!' she wrote. "It's about me understanding and managing my expectations and being better always and just simply being myself!"

Jessie's second album, Alive, didn't sell as well as her debut offering, Who You Are. But Jessie seems to have taken it in her stride and used it to help fuel her ambition to make her latest record the best yet.

'It's about self improvement and self reflection. I love to sing. But that isn't enough. Making it your living is a different game,' she said. 'So I this time to focus on making sure the core of it all the music is where I want it to be and how I want it to feel and sound."
