The 25-year-old singer and American Idol-winner Jordin, 24, were the subject of break-up rumours early Thursday.
And Jason confessed the pair indeed called it quits two years after they went public as a couple in an interview with Minneapolis radio station KDWB - although he insisted he remains close to his ex.
"Everything is cool man. It's not a bad situation, it's not one of those kinds of things," he said.
The split came as somewhat of a shock to fans.
Rumours swirled the pair were planning to walk down the aisle last year after he released a song for her entitled Marry Me, Too Fab reports.
They also appeared together on the red carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards last month, putting on plenty of PDA.
A spokesperson for Jordin has yet to comment on the report.
But the singer did appear to hint all was not well earlier this month, tweeting on September 15 she had just written 'the saddest song of my life', according to the outlet.
The message came after Jordin, whose father is former American football player Phillippi Sparks, admitted she was trying to entertain herself with sports to distract herself from being down.
"Football is the only thing making me smile today. I don't feel like doing anything except laying down & zoning out. ? #oneofthosedays," she tweeted.
