Dancehall-reggae artiste Rickey Teetz has been courting controversy with his latest single, Na Go Talk, with a line, 'mi love freaky gal but da gal mess up mi meds when she suck mi big toe'.
"Bwoy, mi never know say ah so people ah go react to it, mi do it inna the studio and the whole place mash up, the engineer and mi bredrin dem roll over and a laugh, and mi just keep it in, and people ah talk bout it," Rickey Teetz said.
Dancehall fans are commenting about the song on social-media blogs, with some finding it humorous while the moral police use it as a platform to talk about the increasingly pornographic content of dancehall. Rickey Teetz is not backing down from the controversy.
"It is no big deal, these are actual things that happen, and it is just fun. I am not passing any moral lines, even though this is an adult song, there are certain things I won't say, but this is really harmless," he said.
Known for his street-hustler anthems and his fashion swag, Teetz has emerged as one of the top dancehall prospects in the industry in 2014.
He recently changed his image, choosing to colour his hair blonde, and began sporting more tattoos.
"The girls dem love the image, and mi ah go change mi hair colour again this week for a new photo shoot," he said laughing.
Earlier this year, he made a much-talked-about appearance on CVM TV's 'Onstage', and he was featured on IRIE FM's 'The Buzz', two of Jamaica's premier entertainment programmes. He also made his debut on the biggest gig of his career, thrilling the crowd at Dancehall Night at Reggae Sumfest.
RickeyTeetz is known for songs Lighters Up, 6:30 Walk and Tip Yuh.
