Stylo G wins MOBO Awards

JAMAICAN deejay Stylo G won the Best Reggae Act award at the MOBO Awards in London yesterday.
The event took place at the SSE Arena.
Stylo G (real name Jason McDermott) was selected over Alkaline, Popcaan, Chronixx and Tarrus Riley. He was nominated last year but lost to Sean Paul.
Born in Spanish Town, St Catherine, Stylo G relocated to the United Kingdom in 1998. He made a name for himself in underground music circles before signing with British dance label 3 Beat Records.
Last year he scored a Top 20 hit on the British charts with Soundbwoy. He followed-up with hits such as Badd (featuring Sister Nancy) and Move Back.
The MOBO Awards (Music of Black Origin) was established in 1996 by Kanya King and Andy Ruffell. It is held annually and recognises artistes of any ethnicity or nationality performing black music.
