Mariah Carey was reportedly prevented from taping her Rockefeller Center performance Tuesday due to custody issues.
The singer was scheduled to record a set for the annual Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting but fans were left waiting for hours before learning she was a no-show.
She later made it up with a live performance Wednesday; but sources say the delay was entirely out of her control, as Mariah was apparently held up by lawyers representing her estranged husband, Nick Cannon.
'The talks were about custody and seeing their kids,' the insider told the New York Post. 'What she went through was ridiculous. People in [Nick Cannon's] camp knew full well where she had to be. She had even stayed in a hotel a block away because she was worried about traffic.'
Mariah and Nick share three-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan. The former couple separated earlier this year after six years of marriage.
Mariah's spokesperson declined to comment. Nick's spokesperson had not immediately responded to the claims.
However, Mariah insisted the situation was 'beyond my control' in an apology to fans posted on Twitter.
'Last night's situation was beyond my control. I apologize to all that showed up, you know that I would never want to disappoint you,' she wrote, asking those interested in seeing the live show to tune in to NBC Wednesday night as she performed All I Want For Christmas is You.
'You've kept me here, in your hearts, and I keep you in mine always. We are #lambily! #ThereForMe,' the star later tweeted.
The annual event also featured a performance from Lady Gaga as the 85-foot-tall tree was lit in New York City's Rockefeller Center.
