Dancehall entertainer Ce'Cile has started a new record label - Young Generation Music Group (YGMG) - which she says is her way of giving back to Jamaica. She is also undertaking a strategy which she believes will help expose the artistes she has signed to much wider audiences, thus giving them a better shot at stardom.
The label has already signed a couple of emerging acts - Sparrow Blacks and Lauren - whom she believes possess star potential. Seasoned producer Richie Loop, who sang the 2009 hit song, My Cup, is also on the label, but not only as an artiste.
"I don't think even Richie understands how great a producer/musician he is, because he only concentrates on his artistic side, but we're bringing him out of that. I think Richie and I make a great team in terms of production, because we can also write songs for other people," Ce'Cile said.
She is very optimistic about the prospects of Sparrow Black whom she described as being very positive and well-mannered. "He came second in the recent 'On the Verge' competition, that's where I found him," she said. "I am sure if he was singing something a little more risqué he would get more attention, but if it is the last thing that I do, this little kid is so deserving of being able to take care of his family, I tell him, 'you are going to buy me a nice, big car, because you are going to make it.'
With helping them make it in mind, Ce'Cile plans on employing a particular strategy which she believes will increase the probability her artistes and find the kind of success they crave. "I realise what touring does for an artiste, so I will take them on my journeys. Lauren has already started. For Sparrow Blacks, once his work permit/visa thing is sorted out, he will be on the road with us," she said.
