Popular media personality Nikki Z recently received commendation from legendary American rapper, LL Cool J, for her role in the promotion of his current single, 'Hustler', which features Mavado.
Hustler has more than four million views on American hip hip website World Star Hip Hop. The Grammy award-winning rapper first took to social media to express his appreciation to Nikki Z before making it official by personally calling her cellphone.
Nikki Z, who premiered the song on her popular weekly radio countdown programme 'Nikki Z HOT 20', had this to say: "As soon as the producer Jerry Wonda sent it to my inbox, I loved it, so I uploaded the song with the Nikki Z's Radio drop to prevent illegal download. It was late but I happened to be awake those hours. The post went viral while I was sleeping."
"Jerry put me on a conference call with LL Cool J and he thanked me for starting the movement with this track. It's still surreal to have someone you grew up watching through TV, magazines, someone so established, take time out to recognise my work."
Following Nikka Z's promotion of the song, the rapper also decided to feature Nikki Z's radio drops in the official music video for Hustler. She said the rapper decided to use her radio drop because she was the first to show support for the song.
"I was told by Mavado's manager that LL felt it was right because I was the first person to play the track."
Nikki Z is gearing up to host upcoming events such as DNZ All Star, which features DJ Keemy, and the highly anticipated 'Welcome to Jamrock Reggae' cruise.
