HIV-Positive Minister Found Guilty Of Knowingly Exposing Woman To The Virus

Ronita McAfee released a sigh of relief when jurors found her ex-lover and former minister, Craig Lamar Davis, guilty of failing to disclose to his HIV status to his sexual partners. After not even a full hour of deliberations, a jury at the Clayton County courthouse in Georgia announced that they had found Craig guilty on two counts of reckless HIV, a felony that is punishable by up to 20 years in prison, theAtlanta Journal Constitution reports.
“We are pleased with the verdict,” said Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney, Kathryn Powers. “They (jury) were able to weigh the validity of testimony of people who don’t believe AIDS or HIV exist.”
Ronita’s attorney, James Walker, also commented on the verdict.
“[I hope the verdict] will give others the courage and fortitude to bring these types of individuals to justice.”
Despite being painted as an evil and vindictive woman by Craig’s attorney, Ronita says she refused to let them intimidate her.
“I just stayed strong in my convictions and continued to move forward,” she told WSBTV.
There are also a few other women from his congregation, who say that Craig failed to disclose his HIV-positive status to them. Craig is scheduled to appear in court for sentencing on Feb. 21.
