Popcaan gave patrons more than they bargained for at his album launch at the Triple Century Sports Bar & Grill in New Kingston on Wednesday night.
In the deejay's two-hour set, he delivered tracks from his debut album Where We Come From interspersed with ones from his association with the Vbyz Kartel-led Portmore Empire.
Hit songs including Ravin, Only Man Shi Want, Party Shot, Unruly Rave and Dream held sway with fans. They were equally appreciative of the new releases including Everything Nice, Hold On, Love Yuh Bad and Ghetto (Tired of Crying).
The excitement level reached a crescendo however, when dancehall heavyweights as well former Portmore Empire alumni shared the spotlight with the guest of honour.
Grammy-winning deejay Beenie Man was first on stage. He went into a few lines of Hypocrite before 'cutting and go through'.
The lanky and comedic Chi Ching Ching's statement to the Popcaan that "you short, but me look up to you, mi yute" sent chuckles through the venue. Chi Ching Ching was preceded by Assassin (Agent Sasco).
Sizzla's had a strong set. He performed crowd favourites including Be Strong, Can't Keep a Good Man Down, Don't Apologize, and Thank You Mama.
Lady Saw and former Empire member Lisa Hyper both gave brief stints.
However, it was appearance of Popcaan's nemesis Ryno that would send the room into a frenzy. Ryno performed a track, before wishing Popcaan all the best.
Former Empire alumnus and JOP leader Aidonia also performed several tracks.
Ding Dong and Rhyme Minista were numbered among the performers.
The evening closed with Popcaan performing his album's title track Where We Come From.
