Five of Jamaica's top Musicians have been nominated for a Grammy award, in the best Reggae Album category.
Ziggy Marley's Album, "Fly Rasta" , Sean Paul's "Fully Frequency" Lee Scratch Perry's "Back In Control", Shaggy's "Out of Many One Music" and Sly and Robbie and Spicy Chocolate's "Reggae Power" are all battling it out for the prestigious award.
They go up against American reggae and dub band, Soja, with their album titled Amid the Noise, Amid the Haste which was released on August 12.
Meanwhile Ziggy Marley's Fly Rasta which was released in April, serves as the Artiste's 5th studio collection, which peaked at number 1 on the Charts. Ziggy is a 6-time Grammy winner.
Released on October 1, 2013, Shaggy's 11th studio effort, "Out of Many One Music", was produced by Sly and Robbie, and features collaborations from the likes of Reggae sensation Chronixx, Taurus Riley, Junior Gong, among others. Shaggy has been nominated numerous times before but only managed to cop one Grammy Award, in 1996 for "Boombastic".
Meanwhile Sean Paul's sixth album, Full Frequency, was released in February. This is Sean Paul's 5th Grammy nomination. He also managed to take home an award in 2004 for his "Dutty Rock"Collection.
The Best Reggae Album category, formerly Best Reggae Recording, was instituted in 1985 and saw reggae group Black Uhuru winning the first with Anthem, produced by Sly and Robbie.
