All toys collected will go towards giving hospitalised children at Bustamante the feeling of love, even though the season is rapidly coming to an end.
According to Nordia Craig, manager of Business Development and Marketing at The Gleaner, the company has always supported outreach programmes and has been on board with the Shaggy & Friends concert since its inception.
"Donating patrons will be able to make a personal contribution to the happiness of a child," added Craig.
"This year, we looked at the overall objective of the show. The show has made some very good contributions to the Bustamante Hospital for Children and we were brainstorming to see what we could add to the process. We thought this was a good way to get people to make their own personal contribution to the effort. It's the Christmas season and children are getting a lot of presents, so we are asking patrons to walk with a toy, whether it is new or old it does not matter, once it is in a good condition," Craig said.
The manager also disclosed that The Gleaner would provide receptacles at the venue to collect the toys from patrons.
"Persons should support Shaggy & Friends because it is a good programme. The Bustamante Hospital for Children provides a valuable service to the island's children and it is our job to ensure that it continues to provide the highest level or service possible," she said.
The Gleaner will provide information about the show via print, radio and online. Shaggy and Friends will be hosted on the lawns of Jamaica House on January 4.
The show will feature Tessanne Chin, Ne-Yo, Sean Paul, Assassin, aka Agent Sasco, among others.
