Promoter bashes gov't, night noise law. Says venue for live events needed locally

Local promoter Horse Man has blasted the Noise Abatement Act and partygoers for the second flop of his annual event LIME Full Black. The event featured several dancehall artistes, however, the police pulled the plug on the live stage show for the second consecutive year before its climax.
"You can't expect us to start dancehall show at 9 p.m., not even patrons nuh turn out dem time deh. I wanted to start the show early but I just couldn't because the patrons didn't turn out early and artistes can't perform to an empty venue," he said.
A seemingly disappointed Horse Man also echoed Chronixx's cry for the government to provide reggae music with a live music venue, which will not be affected by the Noise Abatement Act.
"People didn't start turning out until midnight. For a reggae show or such, you can expect people to turn out earlier. But for a dancehall event you can't expect people to come out very early. But people am asking you please to attend events early, because if you had turned out early the event could have concluded by 2 a.m. At one point, there were more artistes inside the venue than people. So I must say respect to the artistes because they came out early," he said.
The promoter admitted that he lost revenue due to the abrupt ending of the show, however, he still has eyes on hosting the event next year. He also said the police were simply doing their job. "We cant blame the police because they gave us until 3 a.m. and they were excellent on the night making sure all patrons were searched. Hopefully, by next year Damian Crawford will come up with a better solution for live events, because this 9 p.m. thing can't work. A venue should be provided for reggae music, I support Chronixx. I also want to say thanks to LIME, they were excellent, Starlight Productions and all other sponsors," Horseman said.
Kip Rich, Elephant Man, Ding Dong and Beenie Man did not get a chance to perform. However, Ishawna, Lady Saw, Lisa Hyper and Sizzla Kalonji gave energetic and entertaining displays. Ishawna had tongues wagging during her set due to her revealing outfit which left little to the imagination.
Reggae artiste Chronixx recently blasted the government of Jamaica describing them as dumb. According to the artiste during a rant on social media, reggae has done so much for Jamaica, yet the government is yet to support the music by providing a venue where performances can thrive.
